Relaxed Hair?

My hair is relaxed and I really want my hair longer and thicker, also right Know I am currently using BB hair mayonnaise and BB Growth Oil and I wash my hair once a week and I also condition it after I do this but my hair doesn't seemed to be growing very much and I also use a chi straightener to flat iron my hair after I've washed and blowed dryed my hair.I'm also thinking about going mainstream with the hair products like Garnier "WHITE hair product".So with this information I ask:

1.Products %26amp; tips to make my hair longer and thicker

2.Is there anything wrong with my weekly routine

3.Does the BB hair product line work for you

4.Will mainstream product work on African American hair

Relaxed Hair?

DO NOT USE BB HAIR PRODUCTS!! i used to use these products and even though it is a black owned company they have horrible products for black people( even dangerous) here is what you can do...

These are the basics, so i will answer your question totally. Often times there is many solutions to one problem. With relaxers retaining moisture is key.

1. The shampoo, unfortunately many black women are using shampoos with alcohol , petroleum jelly, and sulfate. step away from them. Don't even think about using pantene's shampoo for relaxed and natural hair.Use Aveda's shampoo.. specifically the name is Brilliant...go to the website. I use it, i love it, it mouisterizes my hair and the products are natural. i have also heard that KeraCare's shampoo is great for relaxed hair.

2. Okay, step two condition it and then it is time to comb it out, Do not use a brush on you hair when it is wet,,it will hate you for it then break off in revenge. Put your your sections use a big tooth comb, to untangle it

3. Do a hot oil treatment atleast once a month with extra virgin olive oil...repeat..EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil..not the regular stuff. unfortunately i have yet to take this step however my hair is doing great. Protein treatment could also be good for you( do some research to find out about the technique) and deep conditioning.

4. Okay on the daily basis you need to pay close attention to your hair...i recommend conditioning your scalp(3-4 times a week) and your ends(everyday) so that they will not get dry and unhealthy Petroleum jellly and mineral oil are weapons of mass destruction ( in other words do not use grease) it does so much harm to your hair it cannot be all explained here. So you ask what do I use...well natural essential oils such as grapeseed oil ( use it for hair it deflects heat so it is good for flat iron users like us) jojoba oil(i use this for my scalp), extra virgin olive oil, sesame oil, emu oil, coconut oil...all these natural oils and more love you..i promise. Also consider putting a drop of essential oil such as rosemary, basil, peppermint, and myrrh in 4 tablespoons of carrier oil ( the ones i mentioned before)

5. Next,,if you want your hair straight but still be natural it is time to get a freakin good flat iron.,i have the Chi..it does the job but I recommend getting the Sedu because of the good reviews. make sure to protect your hair..i have so thermal protector from Aveda. When flat ironing your hair do not let the iron stay on your hair for too long, just 1-2 quick swipes.

I strongly advise against flat iron use for those with relaxers.

6. If you have a relaxer ( i have heard and definitely see that Affirm is the best relaxer go to avlon.com) don't continue to relaxe all your hair everytime you go to the salon..just the new growth and try to stretch relaxers 10-14 weeks as long as possible. It is best for relaxers hair to do roller sets under a hooded dryer, with the lowest temperature possible.

7. You do not need to trim your hair everytime you go to the salon maybe every 3 to 6 months.

8. Wrap your hair in a satin or silk scarf to prevent damage before you go to bed.

9. Eat healthy, drink lots of water,

10 take multivitamins, and fish oil pills you can get from GNC.

Follow these steps and life will be good..the best part about flat iron (which i do once a week or every two weeks not everday since it will kill your hair) is that it is not stringy but thick and healthy, yet straight and light enough to blow in the wind.

Relaxed Hair?

Hi, check the forums on this website:

http://www.longhaircommunity.com/

They list many different tried and tested vitamins, minerals and combined products which increase hair health and length.

Relaxed Hair?

I will tell you the honest to God truth, and that is that relaxers are HORRIBLE. Look at a picture of your hair a few years ago. I bet you will see longer, thicker hair. Grow your relaxer out, and you sound like you are willing to put in the time it takes to condition and flat iron your new growth until you have all the evil perm gone. You can still wear your hair straight, you don't have to cut it all off or wear braids or twists either. But please stop relaxing. If you only knew how damaging it is. You're doing a good job with the hair care, but your hair simply cannot grow when it is being flattened into submission. I would try using natural hair oils-- Extra Virgin Olive and Jojoba. Please listen to what I say, me and my sister are growing out relaxers out and our hair is already thicker and longer and more beautiful. Do it, girl. Don't poison your hair/scalp another day.

Relaxed Hair?

1) what is your current hair length? if it is around the neck area you should use protective styles (styles that keep your hair from rubbing against things and tearing). your hair is growing, it is probably just breaking off because the ends are being damaged by rubbing against things.

2) try to cut down on the amount of heat you put on your hair. relaxed hair is really fragile, so it cannot take as much heat as other types of hair. relaxed hair is also very dry so the conditioner that you are putting in it is being dried back out with the heat your using. you should try deep conditioning your hair once a week also.

3) never tried it, when i had relaxed hair i used motions %26amp; something called 911 (911 is the brand name)

4) of course! there's no such thing as african american hair! products that are targeted towards african americans usually have the worst ingredients in them %26amp; the words in the brand name are spelled wrong. however, some brands targeted towards african americans are good products, those are the ones that use all natural ingredients but they are highly priced. you can get a product with natural ingredients targeted for white people at a lower price.

2) Nothing is wrong with your hair regime. I wash my hair once a week, let air dry and then straighten.

3) BB does work well for hair

4) yes it works on all hair. I use suave and VO5 and my hair is doing fine.

1) Check out this web forum that I found. These ladies are super helpful. I would first check out hair breakage section and then the hair growth section. Believe me you will learn a lot about your hair and what type of products to use. http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/
