I have mega thick curly hair, and cannot afford or want japanese straightening, so I bought a "paul mitchell-super skinny serum" I bring it with me to the salon or apply it when I get home, they use it before they bow out my hair, and I apply a "VERY LITTLE" after. keep applying a drop everyday and brushing, then day 3-4 you will need to put baby powder into your hair to absorb the moisture and oils and then brush your hair out and put another drop of "Super Skinny Serum" in again to take away the white from the powder. Some places after blowing your hair will hairspary and flat iron. Use super skinny after also and it will help. I purchased a flat iron and using this method I can keep it for about 2 weeks then I "MUST" wash my hair, If I keep it for 2 weeks then I usually keep my curls for 1 week before startingthe process again.

I don't think it would be a good idea to keep it straight for a week, you would need to wash it. When you hot iron your hair you lose a lot of the natural good stuff your hair has to protect it from whatever, it will get grease fast... 2 days Max is all ya can do!

I'm assuming by ironing you mean using a flat iron? I straighten my hair ALL the time and the only way to preserve it is to wrap it at night!!!! I use an oil sheen during the day and run the flat iron over it again just to lock in some shimmer but you need to wrap your hair at night and put a scarf on it.
