My hair is just below my shoulders. Would it work for hair in layers? What are some good products and tips to use for hair scrunching? How long does it take to do?
Is hair "scrunching" good for any hair type? I have naturally wavy hair.Ive never done it before.?
Actually, wavy hair doesnt scrunch as easily unless it's thin. Take a lot of gel or water based wax and out it all through your hair. Then scrunch it, spray it lightly with hair spray and blow dry it on the lowest setting.

Wow, your hair sounds just like mine and my mom's! Yes, it works very well on our type of hair. You can use mousse, and it doesn't really matter what kind. This is what you do. Get your hair wet. I usually do it after I get out of the shower in the morning. Not at night, unless you're going out, because sleeping on it makes it flat! You rub a little mousse in your hands and, from the bottom, gather your hair up in one hand. Hold it for a couple seconds, then repeat in all other sections of your hair. Let dry. You've gone from wavy to curly! It takes about five minutes (except for the drying part). And, unlike someone said, it works on any type of hair, thick or thin.

Scrunching is just a way to keep the curl in your hair. You can do it wet, and just leave it with product, or you can do it while you blow dry.
There are products available for exactly this...mousse I believe is the best.

I don't see how scrunching it would hurt it. I don't really scrunch my hair, but I have friends that do it a lot. I don't see why it wouldn't work for layers. I would use your favorite brand of mousse. It depends how long your hair is, and whatnot. It probably wouldn't take that extremely long for your hair.

I have naturally CURLY hair. I scrunch my hair everyday. I use Tre emme, but I wouldn't suggest that to you since you only have waves. I would suggest, Garnier Frutis spray gel, Catwalk Curl Rocks, and Redken Curl booster. It takes little time (about 5 minutes. As soon as you get out of the shower towel dry your hair. Spray a generous about of your chosen product. Grab the tips of your hair and "scrunch up all the way to the scalp. Do this all over your head, multiple times. Get your fingertips and "scrunch" only the roots for a little more volume around your scalp. This is much easier if you bend over and turn your head upside down. Finish getting ready, "scruching" every once in a while, when needed. Your good to go. I hope I helped. Let me know if you need anything else.

hair scrunching works for pretty much all hair types and it doesn't matter what length.
To damp hair[if it's too wet it won't work], apply John Freida's frizz-ease serum just to make sure your look doesn't frizz out.
Next you can take a little mousse for hold, and apply to hair.
To 'scrunch' it's like opening your hands and making fists and releasing again. Once you picture that motion in your mind its find. So you just randomly do that with your hair... gripping it into a fist and letting go... they key is to scrunch tightly and quickly. Just keep repeating until your satisfied.
It doesn't really take that long.
